Nalu's taco stand in St. Augustine and Beach Diner in Mandarin offers wonderful beachy theme food

Nalu's is located right next to Surf Station and Girl Next Door surf shop in St. Augustine right at the entrance of Anastasia State Park and man, if you want some great, cheap and fresh ready made tacos or burritos, you cannot miss this place! We enjoyed our Memorial day weekend at that lovely state park, and we could not resist stopping by. I had the fish tacos with a side of chips that came with a lovely spicy flavorful baja sauce; my friend, Cathy, had the beef tacos and chips both for under $10. Now, it's a vendor stand, not a sit down restaurant but it's worth a stop if you're in that area.

On Monday, Eric and I stumbled upon Beach Diner in Mandarin; they have 2 other locations, one in Atlantic Beach and Ponte Vedra. With its clean blue and white decor and beachy decor, I felt it was a continuation of our St. Augustine beach day although we were smack in the Jacksonville Mandarin area.

I ordered a classic beach burger cooked medium with their potato salad ($6.59) while Eric ordered the reuben sandwich ($6.59). My burger, although bun, lettuce, tomatoes, and red onion were fresh, was a bit bland, perhaps a lack of simple seasoning so I had to load up on ketchup there. Eric's reuben was tasty, basic but good, and his fries were well seasoned and crispy, not greasy. I discovered Beach Diner is known for their breakfast (served all day) such as their eggs on the bayou (shrimp and crab omelette), pancakes, and fruit cobblers (which they sadly did not have on a holiday). I will return for breakfast and fruit cobbler for sure! Service was quick, efficient, and friendly, and plenty of regulars came in greeting each other. A cute, beachy breakfast and lunch neighborhood joint is a very good thing.
