GREEK FEST
Opa! Local Greek-American families trace their roots back to 1777 when some of their ancestors arrived in St. Augustine after fleeing an indigo plantation in New Smyrna. History lesson aside, between the dancing, shots of ouzo and moussaka aplenty, local Greeks know how to throw down a helluva celebration! The 13th annual Greek Festival, featuring authentic Greek cuisine, beer and wine, live music, a kids zone and traditional dancing, is held on Friday, Oct. 8 from 4-9 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 9 from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 10 from noon-5 p.m. at Francis Field, 29 W. Castillo Drive, St. Augustine. 829-0504, 806-2256. stauggreekfest.com
