My lovely hubby, Eric, decided to take me out for lunch instead of allowing me to suffer eating my dreaded frozen entrée, and this lovely Korean joint was his suggestion. Great tasting yet inexpensive Asian food in general is all around Jacksonville, and about 10 minutes from downtown off University Boulevard, it is just plain good, fill-you-up Korean food that is offered here.
In the same strip mall as Taste of Thai and Hala Café (reviews may be coming soon!), lunch box specials range from $7.99 - $10.99, and it is a generous amount of food. Lunch boxes includes steamed or fried rice, 2 fried dumplings, ginger salad, orange slices, sushi, and noodles. For $7.99, I ordered the grilled chicken BBQ; Eric ordered their kalbi (beef BBQ and my favorite). Tip: To save money, we usually order water when we dine out- not only is it healthier than soda, but you do not need to pay for it!
My chicken was tender, juicy, and flavorful with a nice sauce to dip it in. Eric's beef BBQ was my favorite; tender strips of rib eye, slightly sweet and tasty. Dumplings were crispy and fresh, the salad was simple iceberg with a nice light creamy dressing, and the sushi was average. Rice, an Asian staple, was cooked perfectly, not sticky or dry. The restaurant is nice inside with decorative wood accents and private tables with grills in the middle (we will return for dinner to experience this). Try this place, your wallet and appetite will thank you!
